TinyPOS Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for TinyPOS

Effective Date: September 30, 2026  |
Application: TinyPOS (com.sajjadamin.tinypos)  |
Developer: Sajjad Amin (apps.sajjadamin.com)

1. Overview

At TinyPOS (“we”, “our”, or “the app”), developed by Sajjad Amin, we are committed to safeguarding your privacy. TinyPOS is designed as a standalone, lightweight thermal printing bridge and portable point-of-sale utility connecting mobile devices to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) thermal receipt printers.

Core Privacy Principle: TinyPOS does NOT collect, harvest, store, sell, or transmit any personal identifiable information (PII). All document rasterization, photo dithering, and printing logic are executed 100% locally on your device.

2. Information We Process & How It Is Handled

A. Documents, Invoices, and Photos

When you select a PDF invoice, image, or photo to print, the file is loaded into your device’s temporary memory (RAM) to convert it into thermal monochrome raster dot data (1-bit dithering). These files are processed locally and are discarded immediately after transmission to the printer. We never upload your documents or photos to any cloud servers.

B. Text Receipts and Notes

Any text entered into the app for receipt generation or note printing remains strictly on your device. It is converted directly to printer bitmap commands and is not recorded or logged remotely.

C. Optional Cloud Bridge / WebSocket Relay

If you choose to use the optional “Cloud Bridge” feature to connect TinyPOS to your own self-hosted POS server, print data is streamed directly between your chosen server URL and your local printer over an encrypted WebSocket connection (WSS). We do not operate an intermediary server that inspects, caches, or stores your print payloads.

3. Android Permissions & Justifications

To provide seamless thermal printing and Bluetooth communication, TinyPOS requests only the essential device permissions mandated by the Android operating system:

Permission Purpose & Usage
BLUETOOTH_SCAN & BLUETOOTH_CONNECT Used to discover nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) thermal printers and transmit print dot commands. No personal device identifiers are stored or shared.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION Required solely on Android 11 and older by Android OS architecture to scan for Bluetooth beacons. TinyPOS does not track, record, or access your physical GPS location.
CAMERA Used only if you choose to scan a physical QR code or barcode to import text for thermal printing. No photos or video feeds are saved or uploaded.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE Maintains an active background connection to your paired thermal printer when using the optional Cloud Relay mode so jobs from your POS terminal are not interrupted.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Displays persistent status notifications (such as “Printer Connected” or “Relay Active”) when running foreground printing services.
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Required exclusively when you configure the optional Cloud Bridge to communicate with your designated POS server.

4. Third-Party Services & Analytics

TinyPOS does NOT include any third-party tracking services, analytics suites, or advertising software development kits (SDKs). Specifically:

  • No third-party advertisements (e.g., Google AdMob, Unity, AppLovin).
  • No user behavior trackers (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel).
  • No data broker integrations or third-party profiling.

5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

TinyPOS is a point-of-sale utility and does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take prompt corrective action.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Because TinyPOS does not collect or transmit personal user data to external servers, we hold no retained personal data on our infrastructure. If you wish to clear all locally saved preferences (such as previously paired printer names or cloud server URLs), you can do so at any time by clearing the app data in Android Settings or uninstalling the app.

7. Security

We value your trust. All communication performed by TinyPOS operates via secure local Bluetooth Low Energy channels and standard TLS/HTTPS/WSS protocols when connecting to user-defined servers. Because your data remains on your physical hardware, your receipts, financial details, and documents are safe from unauthorized external access.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective Date”. We recommend reviewing this page periodically for any changes.
